Amy & Matt’s Gold Coast Wedding

Amy and Matt's wedding at Fourth Presbyterian Church and The Drake Hotel is featured on Carats & Cake.

Enjoying Chicago and having fun with their friends and family was a top priority for Amy and Matt. Spending time with their bridal party before the ceremony turned into a private party full of siblings, close friends and lots of laughter.

Spending a few moments alone, surrounded by Chicago's world-class architecture, allowed time to create some dramatic photographs.

The couple got married at the Fourth Presbyterian Church. Built in 1912, Fourth Presbyterian is the only church on Michigan Avenue and the second oldest building north of the river. It is quite spectacular that this peaceful and dramatic sanctuary is just steps away from the hustle and bustle of the Magnificent Mile.

Amy's grandfather officiated the ceremony and provided a sweet, personal touch. We have witnessed many weddings over the years but this was a first! Matt's brother served as his best man. Having family involved made everything more meaningful.

After guests applauded Amy and Matt’s grand exit, they walked two short blocks to The Drake Hotel for a night of dinner and dancing. Wedding consultant Renny Pedersen, of Bliss Wedding & Events, was the ringmaster that brought all of the wedding elements together.

Amy and Matt’s reception was nature-inspired, whimsical, and luxurious. Simply put, it was magical. Combining unique flowers, greenery, gold elements, and surprises of textures like artichokes and painted pears, Rishi Patel, from HMR Designs, brilliantly incorporated the famous colors of the Gold Coast Room.

Guests were treated to The Drake’s famous champagne parade; a dramatic tradition that never gets old!

Amy and Matt truly enjoyed every second of their first dance. Matt couldn't take his eyes off of his new wife; and Amy had the time of her life twirling.

Just when the couple thought their wedding reception couldn’t get any more exciting, Amy’s parents surprised them with a special show. The Four C Notes appeared on the dance floor and amazed everyone with a private Jersey Boys tribute performance.

Amy and Matt’s vision of having a fun and stress-free wedding in two beautiful and historic Chicago venues was definitely realized. From the first dance to the last song, Stu Hirsh’s Orchestra kept all of the guests on their feet. It was an extraordinary day full of many memorable moments that no one will soon forget. A huge thank you to Amy and Matt and their families for letting us be a part of their very special day!

Studio

We feel fortunate to live and work in the beautiful, Chicago neighborhood of Logan Square, among many talented artists and entrepreneurs. We believe in the beauty of blending historic with modern. Built in 1916, our European style live-work building, is land-marked by the city of Chicago, full of character and modern style. It is a dream come true to have a charming studio, surrounded by beautiful boulevards, as the foundation of our creative endeavors.

"It is a pleasure to get to know our couples, become part of their inner circle, understand their connections, and hone in on what matters most. Every celebration has its own personality, vibe and feeling. To interpret and translate the feeling, love and joy, we look for the split-second glances, tender touches, belly laughs and genuine smiles. Emotionally connected, we sense magical moments; one must first feel, and then see to be able to interpret. This is the foundation of our creative process."

"Inspired by all art forms: paintings, architecture, fashion, cinema, music and food, we incorporate our sensibilities into everything we do. Blending emotional imagery with a modern and elegant viewpoint is how we tell very personal stories in a nuanced way. We do this so that you may savor your celebration, long after it ends, and remember those feelings forever. It would be our privilege to interpret your unique story."
