Shelby & Ben's Supper Club Soiree

Shelby and Ben's wedding is featured in the Summer 2016 issue of Inside Weddings.

Shelby and Ben first met in high school during a student council leadership retreat. The groom admits that ever since sophomore year of high school he knew Shelby was the one. Throughout the length of their ten-year relationship the couple talked about marriage frequently. Yet when Ben came to visit during spring break, Shelby had no idea what her soon to be groom had planned. A sentimental note written by one of Ben’s students turned into a personal love letter asking Shelby to be his wife.

This past fall Shelby married her best friend in a traditional Catholic church with personal touches spread throughout. The bride's mother, an interior designer, helped to inspire a modern supper club atmosphere for the reception. "The whole thing was beautiful,” said the groom. "HMR Designs really outdid themselves with the decor."

After an intimate cocktail reception, guests headed straight to the dance floor. “The band played the first set and got everyone hot and sweaty and ready to celebrate,” said Shelby. Ben requested live entertainment and Ken Arlen Evolution Orchestra was a perfect fit. The band kept the couple and all of their guests on the dance floor the entire night. Shelby’s advice to future brides and grooms, “Make sure to be fully present in the day and stop to enjoy the most important moments.”

Studio

We feel fortunate to live and work in the beautiful, Chicago neighborhood of Logan Square, among many talented artists and entrepreneurs. We believe in the beauty of blending historic with modern. Built in 1916, our European style live-work building, is land-marked by the city of Chicago, full of character and modern style. It is a dream come true to have a charming studio, surrounded by beautiful boulevards, as the foundation of our creative endeavors.

"It is a pleasure to get to know our couples, become part of their inner circle, understand their connections, and hone in on what matters most. Every celebration has its own personality, vibe and feeling. To interpret and translate the feeling, love and joy, we look for the split-second glances, tender touches, belly laughs and genuine smiles. Emotionally connected, we sense magical moments; one must first feel, and then see to be able to interpret. This is the foundation of our creative process."

"Inspired by all art forms: paintings, architecture, fashion, cinema, music and food, we incorporate our sensibilities into everything we do. Blending emotional imagery with a modern and elegant viewpoint is how we tell very personal stories in a nuanced way. We do this so that you may savor your celebration, long after it ends, and remember those feelings forever. It would be our privilege to interpret your unique story."
